i just bought a 1995 gmc yukon and the gas pedal seems to be very stiff when i press on it. and when i let my foot off it takes a long time to come back. i push on the throttle from the throttle body with my hand and it seems to feel fine. do i need a new cable or just lube? and also when i start it up it idles really high then gradually goes down. does the same thing when i put it in park or nutreal. does this mean the throttle body just needs to be cleaned out? whats a good product to use?

Sounds a lot like the experience I had with my 99 Silverado. A good cleaning of the throttle body made it as smooth as silk again. I think I just used a standard stp throttle body cleaner. (It's been a few years and I've forgotten) Also it certainly wouldn't hurt to lube the cable. If none of this works then maybe think about a new cable. But I'd try both of these first.

I recall on my '94 that the factory recommends replacement of the cable at 100,000 miles...I never did. I am not sure if it is similar to the '95 Yukons.
