Water Leaking into my 02 2500HD

Anyone have a problem with water leaking into from the drivers side windshield/wiperblade assembly area???  I have found a puddle a couple of times on the driver's side mat after a night of sitting in the rain.  The water's path starts from the E-brake and goes up the dash frame (you can see it by removing the fuse panel) and then ends up somewhere -- that's what i am trying to figure out.  Might be a bad windshield seal, might be something else...what drives me nuts is that during driving in the rain there is no leak.

Thank you in advance for any help,

John Biagioni

PS - I have a $1K to spend on my truck and was looking for a plan.  This is the planned ingredient list so far:

PPIII - Had one on my 1500 and it actually did make a difference ($320)

Trucktek tonno and sidesteps ($270 for both delivered - I know not the best but they work)

And now $410 left to go - what's the most bang for the buck with the 6.0L versus my old 4.8L?  Thanks again

I found a wet spot on my mat this week in the same place you described!!!  I wondered if it was a leak, because There seemed to be too much water to be just what came from my left shoe...  I'll have to check this out a little more!!!

I don't no if this is the problem but my fathers had a leak in it and we chased it around trying to figure out what it was....re kept thinking it was the boot threw the firwall where all you electric lines come in but then we realized it was the boot rubber boot that goes around the steering wheel shaft this fixed the problem on his truck...hope it helps..

John, with your remaining $$$$ , get the Hypertec programmer. Gives you many options to do with your engine/tanny performance curves.

Man this is weird. I saw a puddle on my Driver side mat too this morning for the first time since i had my Truck eventhough we had some heavy ran fall before. I am bringing my Truck in so they can fix it. its kind of scary with all the e. stuff under the dash and then have water come through.

I don't have a leak...yet anyway!  But at speeds starting around 70 and going faster, it sounds like the windshield is rattling or vibrating/creaking.

Sitting in the driver's seat it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side.  Sitting on the passenger side it sounds like it's coming from the driver's side.

I had the same problem with a 2001 Yukon XL. The windshield would creak when driving around 70. turned out that i had hairline fractures around the area where the Rearview miror was glued to the windshield. weird huh.

Do you guys have roof marker lights? I've seen a number of posts about leaking associated to those lights. Mine haven't leaked yet -- at least not to my knowledge anyway -- but I'm definitely leery that it's going to happen sooner or later.  :)

I have roof marker lamps, and yes mine have leaked before, but the water came in through the overhead console.

This spot seems like it is right under the "E" brake release handle...

Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this.  My truck does not have the roof marker lights.  To track the water pop the fuse panel cover on the driver's side and look at the frame of the dash with a flash light.  You will notice rust on the frame where the water pools.  Now I can go to the dealer and at least tell them I'm not the only one.

i looked under the dash and saw that my puddle was right under the outlet of the heater duct. I wonder if i had some condensation or something come out of there?!

Not so worried about that leak anymore.  Hit a buck last night doing 65MPH.  Can you say ouch...dead center against the license plate.  If it had been 30 seconds earlier why wife would have been dead in her Maxima.  Luckily the 2500HD took one for the team.  License plate is approximately 2 and 1/2 feet inside of where it is supposed to be.  BTW air bags do sting when they hit you.  Luckily I was able to retain control and got it off the highway without much more damage.  First look estimate $9K without taking it apart.  It was two months old today. Again, thank god it hit the truck and not the maxima.  If this one is totaled then I will get another.  The truck didn't even slow down upon impact.  It's great to have mass and height on your side.  If anyone was interested I was heading on 295N in RI 1.5 miles before exit 4 plainfiled pike. Happened at 10:30PM at night.  Guess rut session is upon us.  Couldn't find the deer, launched it like a field goal kicker into the woods...time for a beer.   :D

Sorry to here that...  I'm glad you are OK though.  :D

Real sorry to hear of your mishap...

I've lived in the sticks for about a dozen years now, and have come very close to nailing Bambi on a number of occasions. So far I've been lucky, but just about everyone else I know hasn't been. My brother actually had a deer run into him!

One of the things I fear the most when it happens to me (which hopefully will be never, but living where I do makes that unlikely I'm afraid) is that stupid airbag. I wish there was a way to deactivate it completely. I'm ugly enough, but if that thing blows up in my face I'm afraid it would push my appearance over the edge...   :D  :D
