Hey everyone,

I just came back from driving around and the subject always comes across of tailgaters..  I m one of the people who gets absolutely furious when someone does it..  My favorites methods of revenge include using my washer fluid to spray the guy behind me, touch the brake so it activates the b-lights, do the speedlimit exacly or 1 or 2 under just to make him p'd off more.. When i m in the vette i wait til he tries and passes me and then i just bury the pedal :) Oh and of course the finger out the window doesnt hurt!!

Ya i will admitt its a little wrong the stuff i do.. But if i m breaking the law by driving 20K over the limit then why do they have to sit right behind me like i m doing 20 under..

So as the topic asks.. What do you do about it???

Are you one of those people who just ignore it or someone who get mad/even...

I usually either gradually slow down until they get mad enough to go around or hit the break pedal hard but let off quick so it gives the initial appearance that I'm trying to stop quick.

Tailgating is one of my biggest pet peeves.

If I'm on the freeway I'll move to the right when it's clear and let them by. What I hate is when I'm on a two lane road (one each way) and there's no where to pass and I'm 10th in a line of cars. Theres no where to go and somebody is right on my bumper. That's the only time I'll brake or down shift to see if they're awake. The last thing you want to do is piss them off by slowing down or not letting them by.

I just sit right there making sure I stay just even with the car in the right hand land so they cant pass on the right.  If they really irritate me I left up enough to give him this idea that he CAN pass on the right and so he switches lanes and then guess what I do...?  right.....even more irritating to me is the guy who starts blinking his lights to high (in the middle of the day) about a 1/4 mile behind to let me know he's coming fast and to move over....for some reason that one gets me the most...he's got as much chance of me moving over as Shaners trading his new truck in on a Dodge Caravan.

I usually slam on the breaks to make him clean out his colon, then poke along at the spped limit.  If I get to a red light and he's still behind me, I just put it in reverse and back up onto his hood. LOL!

if its at night hit the cargo light turn around and either wave one of the following (i do not suggest the first two)

1. Gun

2. Knife

3. Finger

Slow down, speed up, tap brakes, slam brakes, flip bird, flash gun, back up,...

You people sure like to live dangerously!  You'd do all that without knowing anything about the person (ok, low-life person) behind you.  He may be some homicidal maniac looking for a excuse to pull out his piece and start blasting away!

Bout the only thing I do is that I'm already doing; cruising down the road, minding my own business.  I don't speed up, slow down, tap brakes,...

You get the picture.

But yeah, people who ride up on you fast, flashing their lights, thinking they're over in Europe or someplace does rub my fur the wrong way to.  Who gave them special rights and priviledges and expect to be treated like royalty?

Anybody here ever had anybody pass them on the right, in the break-down lane?  Scared the $h!t out of me!

Actually i have had people pass me through an intersection in the left turn lane, on the soft gravel shoulder doing 100kph+, a bike on a regular two lane road just snuck beside me on the right side*which would scare the crap out of anyone!!*

Thats why i want my 130Watt lights when i get my brush guard.. so when someone does it *espeically at night* i can just blind the heck out of them

Actually that does work well.. But they have to make them brighter.. :)

hmmm hook up some aircraft lights in the back?

Put a roll bar with lights facing the opposite way hehe

The roll bar is one of my future plans including two lights facing backwards..

Legal reason: i need bright lights for the cargo

Real Reason: I want to blind the heck out of tailgaters

Actually i can get my hands on a set of aircraft lights ;)

I'm afraid I'm guilty of all of the above tactics.  On the other hand, I'm a FIRM beliver in "Drive Right,Pass Left".  I'm not a "Tailgater" nor am I defending their antics.  But if some jerk wants past you so badly that he's/she's willing to risk both your lives...help them pass ASAP.

Stationed in California, everyone is in a hurry!!  Keeping with the flow of traffic is still to slow for some, noticed especially trying to merge onto a freeway.  I do 90 just to get in front of the flow and get looks and gestures for slowing someone down to do it.
