I want to swap a 6.2 into my truck and was wondering if there was a security system in the pcm? if anyone know how to get around this any info would be great.

I'm sure Blackbear performance could set you up with a PCM to do what you need.

Not really. Besides, it wouldn't be slow with a 6.2 in there.

Yeah 454ss were really slow, but very torquey. With any gen III+ engine in there it'll easily blow away a 454ss. Big blocks do have much potential, but they really limited the 454ss with TBI and horrible heads. They ran around 17 in the quarter, and it wasn't all that heavy.

Oops, sorry had the years wrong. Never said they were fast, said they looked badass. But they sure had a lot of potential because as you mentioned they were light, built strong as well if i remember correctly. But with a 6.2L in one on those it would be very quick.

To the OP, if you do in fact put the 6.2L in your 92, make sure you do it the right way, build up the tranny and make sure the rest of the drivetrain can hold up to it. Post some pics when your done!!

Hot Rod or Car Craft swapped a 6.2 into an older Camero Z28. GM has crate engine with all the goodies already on it... computer, smog, etc so it is nearly turnkey. Perhaps that computer would help, I doubt it had the security since the older cars did not..
