Well today i rode in a friends ZR2.  Nice truck.  One thing i did notice was there were no Clunks when shifting unlike mine

his had 50K + Miles and mine has 31K

First time i have rode in one and they are nice trucks.  Inside is a little cramped however

I like them, if I wasn't as tall as I was I'd be driving a blazer zr2, but there's no way I can fit in one comfortably.

I wish the full size trucks Z71 package was more distinguished like the ZR2 package.  I mean, unless you see the sticker you really can't tell if it's a 4x4 or Z71, but if you see a ZR2 you know it.

I traded in an '01 ZR2 Blazer for my Silverado, it was a great vehicle just not what I wanted. The inside wasnt too bad, I am 6'4" but would have to have the seat all the way back and the back part tilted back some. The backseat was pretty much useless especially when it came to gettin in and out. The 4.3 wasnt a bad motor but having drivin V8's until then it just didnt feel the same, would have been a lot better I believe if it wasnt pulling the 31's. Well this has turned into a post about what I didnt like about my ZR2 but dont get the wrong idea, it was pretty awesome off road and not at towing so I guess when used for what it is intented for, you cant beat it!   :thumb:

you know one thing that is wierd is the ZR2 S-10 (dont know about the blazer) doesnt come with a hitch from the factory.  It is a dealer installed option.  My friend is looking at trading his 00 for an 03.

I've owned both.  I had a 1998 ZR2 which I sold and now have a 2000 Z71.  While the ZR2 may have looked sharper I found it to be flimsy and underpowered even with the five speed manual.  I'm much more pleased with the Silverado's room and power.

the Zr2 Pkg is an offroad pkg.  Basically comes with bilstein shocks, fender flares, and larger BFG all terrain tires and skid plates

My buddy traded his 00 in last friday for an 03

It is an RPO code, it has "bilstein shocks, fender flares, and larger BFG all terrain tires and skid plates" as mentioned above but is also wider than stock s-series vehicles and higher. It also has a bunch of other special parts such as fenderwells and other parts that are stamped ZR2. They actually have a lot of goodies people dont know about!

Now I remember. RyanbabZ71's picture post refreshed my memory. They are quite a bit "meaner" looking, so if the underside is beefed up too, I could see it being a pretty cool mid-size 4x4.

They also have full size 10 bolt 8.5" diffs and a frame that is totally exclusive to the ZR2.I also believe they were the first GM truck to come from the factory with 4 wheel disc brakes.

They really are nice trucks but probably don't have enough size for most of you.I bought mine when my wife had her '99 Tahoe so I didn't need a full size and now that we have the HD I really don't need a bigger truck.
