I have a 2007 z71 that uses 2-3 qt of oil between a 7000 mile oil change ( new body style and motor with 5yr 100000 mile factory warranty ) my truck has 47000 miles on it. My lovely local chevy dealer hands me this paper that says 1qt every 2000 miles is ok by gm standards " which is a joke " esp since the svc mgr told me that they can put some kind of " shield " in the oil pan that stops the motor from burning oil along with a fluid they put in the cylinders that clears out the carbon then they suck it out????

Should I get rid of my truck or pay them to do this procedure and has anyone heard of this and how much does it cost??

Thx

Donnie

This has been discussed alot, here is a thread on it and it should be covered under your 5/100 powertrain warrenty

Here is one on how AFM/DOD works

my dealer said anything under 1 qt every 2000 is ok per GM and im under a oil consumption test right now

It's a common issue.

And my dealer told me that a quart every THOUSAND miles is "normal".

Mine burns a quart every 1,200 miles or so.

my 07 NBS was buring around 1 qr every 800-1,000 miles, I had to keep a Data Sheet in my truck and every time the oil low add oil dash came on I needed to write down the information.

I had the data sheet for around 8 months, then took it back in. They had my truck for a little over 2 days. I had it down first week in feb. and have yet to burn any oil. seems the fix worked so far.

very pleased with GM fixing issue
