Heated Seat Problem

Recommended Posts

My heated seats on the driver side come on without me turning it on. They just come on for no reason at all. Has anyone had this problem, its kind of annoying. Is there a way to disable the seat heaters or a fuse I can remove. Thanks for any information

This may be a problem for the dealer. The wiring diagram for the driver's seat is SEVEN PAGES LONG. Doesn't look like you can remove the heated seat fuse and be done - it is shared with the ignition per my 2004 owner's manual.

Is it on all the time or intermittently? There is a diagnostic procedure for heated seats on all the time, but looks like you would just be swapping parts unless you have a proper scan tool.

You could just unplug the heater, but the next owner won't like that one very much!

For some reason I think you can just replace the switch and it will be good. Don't quote me on that, but I swear I read another thread that replacing the switch takes care of it.

I replaced the switch myself, and still have the same problem. I've had the seat reprogrammed via the dealership and still have the same problem. So those aren't the root cause.

I'm taking it back on Tuesday and telling them not to call me until they've verified it's fixed.

When I switch on my seats they turn off within 20-30 secs after being turned on. Any ideas?

Your elements are bad. It detects a short and turns off automatically...try just the passenger seat. If that works fine, then there is a short in the drivers element. I replaced the bottom and seat back elements. Dorman makes reproduction ones for about 150 for the pair...

The dealership quoted me over 1000 to fix the heated seats. Said i needed a new module and all that crap...F THEM.

Fixed for 150 bucks, no BS.
