Xfe Spare Wheels

Ok, so the XFE has an aluminum spare wheel, and looking under the truck it looks like it is painted black and has the same tire as the regular rims on the truck. Has anyone ran these tires/wheels (with obviously three more) in the winter? I think it might not only look cool, but save the regular rims from the salt.

GM made some nice looking black spares but they are hard to find. I was thinking they were mostly found on the avalanches, but obviously others. They are hard to find in good condition too just mainly because they are under the trucks with all the weather.
