Joplin Tornado

I live up in Springfield, and people near me were finding debris over 50 miles away. They say the storm was so powerful that it stripped the bark off of trees.

I hadn't seen the pic of the helicopter yet, you'd think they would have moved it before the storm hit.

I live about 10 miles from Joplin and have been volunteering all day long. You cannot imagine the destruction that this storm has brought. 3 miles long for over a mile wide there is just nothing. 3 schools gone, a vocational school gone, churches, homes, businesses, parks, car lots, etc are all just destroyed. A buddy of mine pulled 19 people out of the rubble. My girlfriend works at a vets office and every one of there kennels are full of injured dogs and cats. From about 6am to 3 I worked to help a buddy of mine get what little amount of salvageable furniture and belongings out of his house so looters (Yes, less than 24 hours after the storm looters were arrested) couldn't rob him. Then, from 3-6 I helped an elderly woman get out of her house for the first time in 18 hours. I plan on going back tomorrow to work and help. If anyone wants to help, donate, or just see footage of the disaster go to www.KOAMTV.com. The local news station has been running coverage pretty much all day.

Send your prayers to everyone affected.

I live just right outside of Joplin. My Nieces and my Brothers Mother in Laws house were totally destroyed. Have people I work with lose everything they owned.
