Reverse Slams, Slips Into Gear!?!?#%@*?

I need to bring my truck into the dealer now as this issue has become more frequent. Best way to describe what's happening is putting the truck into reverse then pressing down on the gas pedal results in this jarring slam like I backed up into another car. At first it would happen mostly after driving forward, coming to a complete stop, pausing for 1 second then shifting into reverse. Now it's doing it from a parked situation, where I simply into reverse then proceed to back up applying gas. Today I was backing up out of a driveway then I tried to go a bit faster in the middle of driving and BAM, it slammed, lmost slipping into gear really hard. I'm starting to think it has smemthing to do with the 93 octance tune no sicne my truck has a nice hard shift into second. Called the guy who did my tune and he said he never herd of this problem either.

Not crazy about bringing my truck to the deaslership especially with a tune and all the work I've done, but I figured it would be good to go there ready with some information if anyone has any insight. Truck is an '07 and has 34,00 miles and has sat all winter except for a handful of short trips locally.

Thanks

This thread had over 80 views and not one person has experienced this or has any ideas? After bring the truck to the dealership they claim they could find nothing.

Today, when shifting into reverse from park, the loud bang happened again, and a whining sound to follow, truck never went into gear, I could press the gas and nothing happened.

This is NOT normal, and I want this taken care of before the truck becomes completely disabled.

You haven't tried disconnecting the bat.? Even though tuning rarely causes a tranny to "slip", it's worth a shot. Could also be a sticky or malfunctioning solenoid, try changing the fluid.

The gear oil is slowly leaking out of the differential. The shop who installed the Mag-Hytec cover apparently didn't install the RTV correctly. It was low a quart, added it to the suggested level but the truck hasn't been driven since then, so that can't be the reason.

Correct me if I am wrong but the Mag-Hytec should have a rubber o-ring and not need RTV, correct?

Wait, did someone install a diff cover or trans pan?

You're right, and it did have one. For some reason I thought RTV was used. Weird it would have a slow leak then.

Ah ok, not sure it's the transmission though. The loud bang feels/sounds like it's coming from the rear. Is it possible the Tru-Trac is causing this to happen somehow?

Well you mentioned "slipping", there's no way a rear end will slip yet still be functional, but if you think it could be the rear end put the truck in N and get up under and check for play in the rear end. What you're describing about it being in gear but acting like it's in N is a tranny problem not a rear end.
