I didn't mention any theories, just the facts & some of my personal opinions. I've rode a bunch of MCCCT trails in the Great State of MI. Also know a bunch of club members. I can absolutely & factually say you're wrong on all counts. Much of the (formerly) single track is now quadded out(how do you suppose that happened?). The local bike clubs are very, very active in all areas of trail maintenance etc. Most riders I know (which is in the hundreds) ride quietly & don't bother anyone- that's up to a few local kids on the clapped out loud old MX bikes & all of the sport quad crowd.

The reason most db guys get pissy is because of the mess the quad & truck guys make of the trails. Why wouldn't they get mad? The mess created by the beer swilling truck & quad crowd is also the #1 reason landowners shut down trails. You can argue it all you want, but all statistics and trail studies have come to the same conclusion.

You're welcome to live in the town of denial, but keep in mind that it's in a State of Mind, not the State of MI.

This all from the same guy that wants stainless steel brake rotors, er sorry, discs, for his truck? Laughable.

As for you knowing it all about the state that I've lived and recreated in my whole life? Seriously, seriously doubtable. If your so apt you can come on over and sit in my place at some of these DNREQ meetings that I have fighting for the public's right to recreate weather its some throttle jockey punk on a balance beam, truck, quad or snowmobile, I'm for all of it. Come in my state slinging your cocky a$$ attitude telling me where the bear $hit in the buckwheat over things that I've given many, many hours of my life up for and I'll personally send your Canadian a$$ packing back across the border (no offense to any of the other Canadian guys/gals out there) the hard way, and that is 110% fact.

Tell ya what though, rather than waste anymore of my breath on your all knowing/never wrong attitude I'll just say, you proved my point, have a nice life.

Really? I asked an innocent question about rotors waaay back when & it's somehow applicable to this (completely unrelated) thread now????

You can talk about how much you currently do(I'm OK with that) & how much you claim the bikers don't do(not OK with that). You can even have a massive distaste for me personally(I'm OK with that). It appears to me that you really have no idea of, or have played down the the history of the trail networks in MI. The genesis of the motorcycle trail networks dates back over 85 years to the 1920's. By the 1960's & 70's much of the trails themselves were pretty much fully developed to what you know of today, this was long before Honda ATC's came on the scene & quads were even a dream in a Suzuki engineering lab. It was also long before trucks were used much for recreational purposes. Even the CCC of Michigan itself dates back to 1968 and developed the first projects with the Michigan DNR and state legislature back then. Again, all of this long before quads and trucks were on the scene.

Say what you want, but the CCC was there long before you and have done far more than you could ever fool yourself into believing the T&Q crowd has done. This is not to say that you and the T&Q crowd hasn't contributed, but let's keep a fair context about things.

You don't have to understand it or believe it, or like it, but that doesn't change the reality.

Just sold my yz250f and my old Honda four wheeler. Rebuilt my rm125. And about to pick up a 2012 Polaris sportsman. I love the mud and trails around here and that's where I use my four wheeler. I also go on a few trips a year. My dirt bike is for the cottage and track only. No sense trail riding a 2 stroke race bike.

Put a quiet muffler & some insurance on it, & back off the compression damping a bunch & you're all set for trail riding. It makes perfect sense. My new bike is a 2 stroke competition bike; insured and quiet & I almost exclusively ride trails. (Not big on the jumping thing......)

Way better & waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun than plodding along on a rough riding, ill handling, overgrown & overweight 4 wheeled behemoth.......

All my bikes, boat and everything are insured.. Local trails don't allow 2 strokes (other than sleds in the winter) everything you said to mod the bike for the trails completely kills the purpose of a race bike. I race motocross, I'm young and dumb, I make my bike fly. It would be useless at the track in trail form. Plus you couldn't take my bike where I take my four wheeler through mud and mountains... Not to mention carrying camping supplies on my trips. Everything has it's purpose.

It say you're from Ottawa. What trails don't allow 2 strokes? Limerick, Larose and everything North & west of Ottawa are all open to everything- 2strokes and 4strokes - always have been. Which suggestions I made kill the purpose of a race bike? Backing off the compression? -Takes 2 minutes with a screwdriver. Putting a quieter muffler on it? What does that hurt? It doesn't hurt the power & if you knew anything about human physiology, you'd know that studies have shown that riders on quiet bikes don't get near as tired as riders on loud bikes due to the reduced adrenal response in the body. Plus it helps keep tracks open - The AMA is now on board with their 94db rule. Even so, it only takes 5 minutes to switch out mufflers. Even torquey expansion chambers & Flywheel weights don't take long to switch.

PS, there is not one trail in Ontario that I can't get thru faster on my bike than any quad - the nastier, the better. I can't tell you how many times I've came across a bunch of big 4x4 quads with winches on a gnarly sloppy trail & they look at us & say "You'll never make it over that pile of rocks, or thru that next section"..... I just say watch this & proceed to flit over it like a butterfly. Done! Then we look back and give them the thumbs up and continue on our way- usually carrying all kinds of extra gear at the same time. Many of the fastest guys I know ride 125s cause their so much fun in the woods.

Granted, if you need to drag a moose out of the woods, a quad would be easier, but there's no match for a bike for pure fun.

I do a lot of riding in larose forest, as I live close by. And believe me when I say 2 strokes are forbidden. And if you think you can handle any trail in Ontario, you clearly haven't ridden the ones I have. You should stop in at one of the wheels a churnin events in north Augusta this summer. You'll end up leaving your bike there. Again, there's a place and time for every toy.

I'm not sure who is telling you that 2 strokes are banned in Larose, but it's not an official rule. It's not in any of the bylaws or in the memorandum of understanding with the BMA(who manages the motorcycle trails). Maybe the local forest guy is just telling people that, cause he has a personal issue with them??????? However, loud bikes are banned.

I have ridden all kinds of trails all over Ontario & believe me when I say - If a quad can get thru it, I can get thru/over it - I'm not kidding. If I'm on a trials bike I can traverse stuff even the best quad riders on the best quads couldn't hope to get over, or could only get over with winches. The only exception would be thru a water hole 4-5ft deep that is being traversed by quads with high snorkels - I just find a way around them.

I think I've only been turned back from a trail twice in the last 6 years & both those times were due to it ending at bottomless swamps - you could see on the ground even the quads turned around.

Mud bog events like 'Wheels a churnin' don't interest me. I like to ride from point A to B. If there happens to be a mudhole in the way, I'll find a way thru or around it & carry on - it's just a temporary obstacle. Slopping around in the mud just for the sake of slopping around in the mud is kinda pointless IMO.

I sure don't know what I was thinking talking about my quad like it was cool or something it does not compare to your bike in anyway, it is very slow and get's beat by stock 250's in the sand and on the trail everytime I take it out. I am very sorry to have thought I may know about the trails outside my front door than you in Canada would what was I thinking. Again 3blowjob3 I bow to your greatness sir. One day when I grow up maybe I will go back to the bike's I rode them as a teen and found them boring compared to my quad but I must have just been young and stupid

You have no idea who I am, what I'm for or what I do to keep the great public lands of Michigan open for recreation. You instead, make a bunch of exceptions via what I've said, or what you THINK I've said, on the internet which can show how ignorant you can be with no further need for the rotor comment.

In years of going to odds and ends DNREQ meetings I've never seen an MCCC rep yet, "just sayin'". You can sit there and deny it, tell me the great story of the history of our orv trail system in Michigan, blah, blah, blah, I don't care. All I'm stating is the facts as I have seen them. I'm not saying, nor have I ever said, that truck and quad guys do more for orv use, or that the MCCC guys NEVER show up to DNREQ meetings or do nothing for our trails but I can tell you this, had it not been for the efforts of GL4WDA, which I was heavily entrenched in at the time, Silver Lake, The Mounds and Bull Gap would be barren unused wastelands in this day and age. That was a huge win and the last I checked, the MCCC guys could've helped but they sat on their collective hands and did nothing, I watched it unfold with my own pair of eyes, "just sayin'".

If you come to my state and spend your money to recreate PROPERLY then I tip my hat to you but, sitting there and slinging comments at people that put their blood, sweat and tears into keeping the trail you know so much about, open, is pretty much $hitting where you eat, imo. While I should just watch you barrie yourself in your own "ideas" I can't help but retort and that is my fault.

Now back to your reguarly scheduled show of how a two wheeled Canadian can "walk on water" with their dirt bike.

Quad and truck clubs keep trails open and maintained while the bike guys sit on their hands and cry, cry, cry about everything. There are designated area's and trails for both and I can tell you that there ain't no quad getting down any MCCC trail that I've ever seen because single track is a large description of the designated cycle trails here in Michigan

I made the dumb mistake of shooting off my opinions on my first post on this thread. It appears to me that you take some personal ownership of this board & I upset the hall monitor so to speak.

In hindsight I should have just not posted & went & did something else.........

Look, we all contribute time & energy to our sports & I've had the pleasure of buying a MI trail pass, spending cash in the Boyne area & riding some nice trails - which didn't just appear out of nowhere. I get it, I know what it takes to keep these things going.

If I'm going there next, I'll post up here & find out where you are & make sure I go to a different area.......where you aren't.

That way you don't have to be tempted into doing something the State popo need to be called for...
