New Alternator

Long story short - my truck wouldn't start yesterday. I drove it the day before and it was fine. Nothing was left on. Truck had no lights, no anything electrical. Checked the battery voltage and it read around 2.1 vdc. Battery is only 18 months old - so I put a charger on it. Finally get the truck started and I headed to the store where I bought the battery, thinking the battery is bad. They checked it and said the battery is good, but the alternator output seemed weak. So today I went to my dealer to have it all checked out. They said the alternator was bad and replaced it. Saved by the extended warranty.

Anyways - on my service ticket it says "...found generator on puts out 60 amps max. Replaced generator and load tested again. Generator put out over 90 amps." Part number is 25968616. My truck came with a 140 amp alternator. Could someone explain to me the difference of "over 90 amps" and 140 amp generator? Should the "90 amps" be higher? I'm confused. I have searched and cannot find any specs on a GM alternator for this p/n.

On a side note: I still don't know why the battery was at 2.1 vdc :flag:
