Its time for new tires on my truck, im currently running the stock bridgestone dueller 265/65r18 tires. im looking at getting a set of the nitto terra grapplers. i have a RC 1.5" level in the front (not the full 2"). i want something a little bigger in a all terrain and was thinking either a 275/65r18 or a 285/65r18. my buddy at the local truck accessory shop told me that the 285 might rub. i need your opinions and also what you have seen/ expirienced with this. thanks. peter

Id go with some 285/75-16 Goodyear Duratracs. Ive heard theyre decent on ice, snow, mud, dirt and pavement. In fact thats what Im gonna be doing after I get my transfer case overhauled.

285/65/18 Nitto or BFG or Goodyear

will those not rub running the stock 18" wheel? and with only a 1.5" level

They clear on 2" leveling kits. I don't see a problem with only 1.5" If they do rub it would only rub plastic liner, which is an easy fix.

I cleared 275/65/18 Goodyear At/s stock. Which is the same size as the stock 20s have (275/55/20)

true about the 275 on the 20 vs the 18. i want to get the 285s and want a nitto terra grappler and heard they run big and really dont want to rub

If the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 would have been out when I put rubber on I probably would have tried those. All the reviews I have read say they are pretty good offroad and great on road.

FYI, I rubbed my mud flaps with a 2" RC level and 1.5" Body Lift on 285/65/18 Trail Grapplers. They DO run bigger but I have seen 100's of other GMT 900 trucks pull off other brands in that size.

yea since i have only 1.5" up front, mud flaps and dont want to rub i would probably be safer with the the 275's especially since everything that i hear and read about nittos running bigger.

I ran 275/65/18 Revo 2's with a 1.5" level and they did not rub but they looked a tad small. Below is a picture of when I had that setup, it is from about a year and a half ago but you get the idea.

are those tires in the pic the stock 265/65's or 275/65's. they look stock, but your right they do look a tad small. any idea if the 285/65 in a nitto would rub? the 275/65 is a 32.1 tall by 10.8 wide where a 285/65 is 32.6 by 11.2. but then again i do hear about the nittos running large too so the nitto 275 may be a little bigger than the stated 32.1 and the 285 may be closer to a 33

Tires in the picture are 275/65 Revo 2's which were 32.1" tall and 11" wide.

As for the Nitto's, Trail Grapplers do run big for a 285 and they are closer to a 33x12.5 which I could not fit with my lift comfortably.

The Terra Grapplers though, which I believe you are looking at, they run more true to typical size and a 285/65 should fit with no rub.

My 275 65.s didnt rub when it was stock so you should be good with the leveling kit and 285's.
