Panel Replacement

Anyone here ever removed their box? I'm replacing my drivers side box skin. Any tips appreciated. Anyone know what the box weighs? Wondering how many people I need to round up to pull it off

I'd say 4 as a minimum but 6 would really make it nice. If you put it on jack stands and take the tires off, you don't have to lift it up as high to clear the tires.

6 1/2' bed:

8 bolts holding the bed itself

2 bolts and a push pin at the fuel filler door

unplug light harness behind the center of the rear bumper

take the tailgate off first to make it lighter

 

4 healthy men can then lift it off. I've done it several times replacing fuel pumps. 4 guys in their late 20's had no issue. We aren't exactly body builders either. Certainly preferable to have at least one extra person to help guide and lead everyone because it's hard to see your clearances when holding the bed up. Going over the tires and rear bumper are the biggest obstacles. We set the bed down on the ground in the front lawn and had no damage.

Any tips where NOT to lift from? With how flimsy the sheet metal is I'm scared to dent it. You look at those panels funny and they dint
