The 05 hd i got looks good right now..its an 05 white sierra ext cab long bed the keys adusted slightly and 285,s under it.

But id really like to go a little higher but dont want a 5 or 6" lift or the cost them either.. so im debating on a 3" body lift with gap gaurds.. just curious what you guys reallyfeel are the negatives about a body lift? Im not gonna plow withit just pull a 6500lb camper.

Thanks

HD's show way too much frame with a 3" BL, IMO. I wouldn't do it.... and im a huge advocate for body lifts on GMT800 & GMT900 1500s.

The gap guards only hide the gaps in the wheel wells. It's the frame that shows under the body of the truck.

I've yet to see an HD body lift that I thought "oh that looks alright".

There's nothing wrong with doing it. The only downside is a cosmetic one. If you're okay with the frame showing under the truck then go for it.

if you do go with the BL, I would suggest some step bars of some sort. just an idea

That would help in two ways.

1) it would help getting in and out

2) it will cover up some of the frame hanging out under the cab.

Just make sure you ger the kind the mounts to the cab and not the ones that mount to the body mounts. n-Fab makes some nice ones.

I agree the steps/running boards help ALOT, my truck has a set i just have to make sure there on the frame..

90% of those hd trucks with body lifts looked great.

I like the stance of his XL. Ide shoot for that look if it were me.

But, I guess hes already got a truck that way, so Ide probably want a little variation too.

thanks for everyones input, the other thing i was thinking was going with a 3 or 4" block in the rear vs the 2" and get the new keys and adjustfrom there, asfar as shocks go ill get new ones inthe rear but the front are the shock extensions safe. and/or the qaulity of oem.
