4l80e Transmission Fluid And Filter Change

I need to do the 50k service on this tranny (2006 Tahoe). The filter/gasket kits usually come with a new seal for the filter tube. Should I replace this seal? In the past I've had a heck of a time removing this seal to the point of marring the aluminum. Seems to me it should only be replaced if the original is damaged. What does the dealer do? Thanks!

I replaced mine and it was a pain. Next time I do it I'm not replacing it. I think you will be fine if you don't, as long as the new filter is tight when you install.

Yes they are a PITA!!!! but when you can figure the trick it makes it simple. take a skinny flathead, put it on a corner of the old seal, get a hammer and lightly tap until it starts to cave in the shape of a pac man figure lol, that should get it out better
