ericduong Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Hey guys, Just wanted to know from those who have them, how easy are they to install? Need to take off the wheels or no? Gonna pick them up tomorrow morning.
Dzlbudman Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Just jack up the truck and let the tires sag. they should slide right in over the tire.. Mine did at least...
lowrider Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 You don't need to drop the wheels. However, a right angle drill would help in the installation. The liner snaps in. There are three push clips and four self tapping screws. Lou
[email protected] Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Hey guys, Just wanted to know from those who have them, how easy are they to install? Need to take off the wheels or no? Gonna pick them up tomorrow morning. I just got done installing mine on my brand new 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext cab a few minutes ago. Jacked up each side with floor jack, slipped them in, plenty of room for power drill with 5/16ths inch nut driver bit, took 10 minutes. Very nice!!
dsr611 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Installed them on my 2010 Sierra in about 15 minutes (most of which was trying to separate the liners from each other). I didn't remove the wheels/tires and didn't use the screws, just the 3 or so push clips on each one. They were a tight enough fit that they aren't going anywhere, so why risk the possibility of a hole rusting.
mossbum Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 if you have larger than stock tires you may need to remove them to get them in. i left mine out in the sun for several hours to make them a little more flexible and i still had to take the wheels off to get them in. 285s were just a hair too big.
ericduong Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 Thanks guys, Bought them this morning and installed them later on in the day. Must say that they went in pretty well. I did have to take off my tires because there was just too little room to work with with them on. I went ahead and just used 2 self-tapping screws w/ a washer per liner. Also sprayed them with rust preventer. Overall, they make my truck look cleaner and better
tpdolph Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Where is everyone buying these liners? gm parts direct? Do they come with install hardware. (screws, clips) Looks like a good mod. Thanks

Thanks You can get them at GM Parts Direct or at your local dealer. Comes with all necessary hardware to install (3 or 4 push clips and a couple of coated screws for each liner).
HapHazard Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I installed my liners without removing the tires, and after installing them, the 3 push clips didn't line up with the outer fender edge, so I just left them in without any screws or clips. It has been about a month now, and I haven't seen any movement whatsoever, so I will probably just leave them "installed" in that fashion. They fit rather snugly inside the fender well, so maybe this is a permanent solution for me..
BlackZ71Silverado Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I removed the wheels because it was a little easier that way. It's about the easiest thing to do to your truck. I also did not use the push pins they send because the liners fit really tight, they are not really needed IMO.
Doug_Scott Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I left tires on (265/70-17), and used the 3 push pins. Did not drill or use the screws, no need. I also make sure that Krown sprays between the liners and the box of the wheel well though, just to make sure the liners do not rub the paint off the wheel wells.
takevin Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I have 305s for my summer tires, i just left liners in the sun for bit, made them flexible enough and just pushed them in and popped in the hardware without jacking the wheels up. Easy to do.
Gutzy Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I'm really wanted to get the liners for my new 2012 silverado but i already have weathertech mud flaps on my truck does anyone know if they will still work with the weathertech flaps? the weathertech mud flaps hook around the inside of the wheel since they are no drill ones i just dont want to get them and then realize they dont work with weathertech mud flaps
