A/c Default After Changing Battery

Hey all...I have an 04 Suburban 1500 LT with electronic climate control and after changing the battery the a/c only goes to the default defrost. Can't make it come out of any other vents. Any ideas how to fix this? A Carolina summer is no place to be without cool air in your face.

My manager has a Trailblazer and just had something similar happen after changing his battery. He found out he needs to go to a dealer and have someone with a Tech II do some re-calibration process with the climate control head. Not sure if this applies to the fullsizes as well.

Same thing happened to me. You have to pull two HVAC fuses (one under hood, one in cab IIRC) for a minute, reinsert then start vehicle and do not touch any HVAC controls for at least a minute so it can recalibrate itself. I would try this a couple times, worked for me.

Yeah, a 9 volt battery pluged into the cig lighter will hold your settings while the battery is out. They can be had from Wal Mart for 4 or 5 dollars.

+1. I had a 2005 Yukon that did the same thing. Not sure why but pulling the fuses restored my vents.

Samething happened to my 2004 Silverado. Pulling the HVAC fuses did not work for me. Disconnect your battery for about a minute or two, reconnect. Turn your key to the on position, not start. Let sit for about a minute, do not touch the HVAC controls. Turn the key off, then start and run and you should be good to go.

 

I had to do mine twice. The controls would cycle to different settings but not the correct ones on the first try. Moved the airflow indicator to top vents, shut truck off, repeated "calibration" process. All is good to go now.
