Clear Coat Peeling Off

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

My brother has a red Colorado, and the other day we noticed that his clear coat was starting to peel off at the rear of his Passenger side door. About 4 square inches are gone and the edges of that area are starting to peel up as well. I'm not much of a paint man so I'm at a loss. What options (if any) do we have for preventing the spread of this peeled area. Can the currently-damaged area be repaired?

Thanks!

Not much you can do to stop it. And they can do a spot repair but it would look better to paint the whole door. Its also a better idea because there is obviously a problem with adhesion already.

Once it starts its going to spread no matter what... take it to a body shop and see about having the panel reshot or at the very least sanded/blended/cleared to stop it from getting worse.
