What Causes Steering Kickback?

Just curious what causes steering kickback and if its harmful at all...my truck has a rack and pinion steering system and if i turn into a steep grade i get steering kickback..is it harmful at all?

Not sure what causes it but it sounds like the wheels want to go one way and you want to go the other way. I doubt it would hurt the hydraulics because the system has relief valves but it may be puting strain on the rodends and suspension components.

its more like, if i turn into an incline the wheel turns itself more in the correct direction when the wheels hit the incline...from what i've read its common on rack and pinion systems :rollin:

If your running stock suspension/tires and wheels and there is no

obvious front end part wear I would guess a bad steering rack,

bad pump, or even a bad EVO sensor.

the only thing not stock on the truck are the tires and the shocks...everytime i go into the dealer everything checks out as fine :rollin: maybe its normal? lol
