I have a 2006 1500HD. Here in the next couple months I am putting new tires on and am going with the Goodyear Duratracs. My question is, can I go with 285/75-16 on the factory rims, without having any rubbing issues? I have cranked the torsion keys a little bit and gained about an extra inch over stock front end height. Does anyone have any pictures with these tires in this size on their truck?

Thanks

More than a few of us running these tires on 2500HD trucks. You may need to trim a bit of plastic off the front fascia if the truck is a GMC. No other issues that I know of.

if they keys are up a little already you should have no problem.. ive had 285,s on the past 5-6 hd trucks ive had and never had to trim plastic if the keys were up, if you gained an inch your fine..

See picture. Trimmed front plastic valance on corners.

So if you have a 2500HD and you had to trim the plastic slightly, does that mean that this size will be too big for a 1500HD?? Doesnt the 2500HD sit slightly higher to begin with than the 1500HD?

They should sit the same.

I have 285's on a regular 1500 ECSB and they don't rub at all..

1500HD and 2500 HD have the same suspension, different frames, but they should sit same height. I also ran 285/75r16's on my previous 1/2 ton before the body lift. Same deal, just had to trim the corner of the front plastic air dam.
