Cargo Management System - Sliding Truck Box

Recommended Posts

Posted

I purchased my 2009 Silverado with the cargo management system already installed. The low profile sliding truck box was also already installed. I'm able to slide it along the cargo management rails, but find that it eats up a lot of bed space. Is there a way to easily remove the truck box off the cargo management system?

Nope, it is made so that it cannot be removed easily.Only way to remove it is to unbolt the brackets that attach it to the rails. You may be able to modify the bracket/rails so that it does allow you to remove it easily, but I haven't looked into it. I personally like that is not easily removed.

That's kind of what I figured by looking at it. It's too bad they don't make lock for the end of the rails to prevent theft if that's the concern.

Well, I'm pretty sure that you can modify the bracket/rails to allow the box to slide out. I have often wondered what it would take to get it done. I will look into it, and I will post my results. By the way, I keep my box pushed all the way to the front. There is are no holes for the pin to lock, but I haven't had any problems with the box sliding around, as long as the knobs are locked in. That will instantly give you a few more inches in the bed of the truck.

I have the rails and bed divider but not the sliding tool box. I am not sure how your is setup but I know I can not simply slide the bed divider off the end of the rails due to the width of the bed. There is a narrow spot (stake pocket, IIRC) that prevents it. I've tried to slide my bed divider out that way and it was no go. I had to unbolt the bed divider from the sliding brackets.

Something to watch for/check?

On the drivers side of the tool box are 4 bolts. Remove the bottom two. Loosen the top 2 and the bracket is slotted so you can lift the EMPTY box off of the bracket. Then you can slide the box out after you remove the plastic insert from the end of the rail.
