Levelling Kit

Im looking at lifting my 2010 Sierra but don't want to go to big, I was thinking of getting a leveling kit and then maybe doing a 1.25' or 3" body lift, I was going to go with a rough country 2" leveling kit since they seem to be very popular on here. When I called one of the local shops to order it he said he recommended going with the ready lift since there strut extension goes on the top of the strut vs the rough country which goes on the bottom, im not sure why its better to have the strut extension on the top vs bottom? I could get a rough country for $85 compared to the $285 for the ready lift. I was also looking at a ready lift 4" lift for about $1000, but going with the 2" level and 3" body lift is so much cheaper, but the thing I hate about body lifts is how most body lifts I seen on older trucks tend to show so much frame and the lift pucks just stand out, will body lifting these new trucks show a lot of frame and the pucks stand out or is it not to bad?

Why spend more money and why waste more time. Lower level wins. Love my RC 2". I'm going to add RC 1.25" bl one day 3" bl Just showes to much hitch And spare tire to me. Some rear finder liners hide the gap in rear helps but I personally do not like the look or 3"

Search is your friend, this has all been discussed many times.

 

Some shops don't carry Rough Country so they will recommend a different company that goes on top of the strut.

Body lifts are covered up more on the GMT900 than the older models but you can still tell if your looking. Go with the 1.5" body lift if your worried to show too much frame.

Ya that is what I was thinking to, I will probably stick with the 1.25" bl so I don't see much frame, with the set up of 2" RC in the front and a 1.25" bl the back will still have .5" rake, I do a little bit of towing, should I be putting another block in the back for more rake or would the .5" be not to bad? Thanks

The shop can also charge you more in labor if you have them install the over the strut kind. My local shop said they couldn't get the RC kits and always recommend ready lift because that's what they carry (like most shops). The guys at the shop knowing me (spent a fair amount of time and money at the shop) told me to just get the RC and pocket the extra cash.

they have different options and are a lot cheaper. do the install yourself its pretty much idiot proof.

 

Save the money.

I had the rough country leveling kit on my 08 sierra sle z71 for 30k and it made the axel seals leak so I swapped them out for rancho quick lift strut assemblies....rides great and sits really well....worth the 170 a piece for me....ride is adjustable too.

I have been reading about the RC 2" leveling kits and have seen some people have been having problems with them....

Another thing I thought of doing was getting a 2.5" leveling kit (which I can't seem to find one that can be shipped to Canada other then some on ebay, I will post the link at the end of the post) then adding a 2" block to the rear and then the RC 1.25" bl which in the end will gain about 3.75" of lift, or would I be better sticking with the original plan doing the 2" RC leveling kit with the 1.25" RC bl to gain 3.25"?

My trucks just a reg cab short z71 sierra 4x4 I am just going for a more aggressive look, don't want anything to jacked up, that seems to look better on the longer trucks.

i have close to 50k on mine and it has seen a ton of hard use and has held up so far.

Lifting it how high? I hope you're not going to need a stepladder to get into the thing...

Look at your axel seals and see if there is a brownish color to them...mine has a tiny leak on both sides

Alright well I think I may have figured out what I am going to go with, I may get the zone 2" kit which consists off a 2" leveling kit and a 2" block and U bolts, and then I may pick up the zone 1.5" body lift, the only thing I don't like is it sounds like there is a little welding involved, so that should give me roughly 3.5" in the front and 2.2" more lift in the back with taking out the stock block. I have some 20" eagle alloys 079 on order the only problem is there like a -12 offset and the tires I have now are just a 275/55/20 so I don't know if there going to look to dinky with the slight lift in the truck, what tires and size would you guys recommend going with or should i just stick with the 275/55/20 since they only have like 5k on them??

I was in the same quandry as you and I went with the RC 2" level kit. Love it now, just need to get rid of these crappy Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires and get some Nittos or Coopers in a larger size.

Ya I am going to go with a set of Nittos trail grapplers, there is a guy in the area selling his set because he wants to upgrade to a bigger tire, I just hope they will fit without rubbing there a 295/55/20 and I hope there not to aggressive that there annoying when driving..
