Hi, My 2002 Astro van 4.3L started having problems with the abs system last week. The brakes work fine until I slow down to a creep then they start chattering and the van pulls to the left. The first couple of days the abs light didn't come on, then started coming on more often but will go off after a while. Brakes work fine when abs light is on,does light bypass system? I heard this problem might be caused by a bad wiring connection or a warped or loose rotor. So I replaced the rotors and looked at the speed sensor connectors above coil springs then drove around the block a couple of times and had no trouble. The next day I made a right turn up a driveway and the problems started again.Does this sound like a bad speed sensor or wiring to it?Can I test the sensor with a DVOM?

Thanks for any help offered

It is most likely a bad speed sensor. You need to get a scanner that will read the speed sensors and watch the speeds and see if one is reading higher or lower than the others.

Thanks for the reply Ryan, It was the speed sensor...I unplugged the sensor on the driver side and hooked up a DVOM to it,spun the rotor and got around a 2.5vac reading. Tried it on the pass. side and got zip, replaced the sensor and solved the problem
