Messed Up Removing Trim Need Advice

so i had the day off and decided to take the chrome trim off the side of my truck since im working on blacking it out. everything went fine till i got done... used braided fishing line to quickly pop the trim pieces off then used 3m adheisive removal to remove the adheisive. by the time it was washed and dryed it i noticed i had messed up somewhere. the area where i had the trim is in bad shape as if it had been sanded and is very faded out compared to the black paint around it. so my question is would a cheap buffer from say walmart and some mcguires ultimate cound or turtle wax rubbing compound (i have both at the moment) followed by wax fix this or what? id upload a picture but its to dark here so if needed ill put one up when i get off tomorrow

how have you been taking care of the paint before removing the trim? if you already have a swirl/scratch remover and a polish, try those by hand starting with the swirl/scratch remover and then followed with a polish. be sure to really work the product to it's full potential with a lot of elbow grease. if it still doesn't look good after 2 or 3 passes with hand polishing, then you'll need to get a machine polisher.

really need some pics to see how bad the damage is.

What kind of adhesive remover did you use??? Most adhesive removers are actually paint stripper basically. If you leave it to long it can have an adverse effect on the paint surface. 3M makes a stripe off wheel to remove labels, pin stripes, and double stick tape...... You could have etched the clear coat surface and could require buffing or even possible a clear coat over lay to cover it all up. Post us some pictures..

i used 3m spray on adheisive remover and give me a sec to upload these photos its super sunny outside so i dont know how well you'll be able to see the bad spots but there is a pic of the whole truck to show what color everything should be. figured that may help a little

I might polish out but you will need to be VERY careful because of its position. Appears you let the adhesive remover on a bit toooo long.

A buffer maybe,,,,,,,, a polisher NO.... Its on a curve... It is going to make burn trough very easy.
