92 Sierra Ux1 Radio

Like the title says this is pertaining to a stock 92 GMC Sierra UX1 radio system. Drove the truck about 150 miles last Saturday radio worked just like brand new. Today I get the truck out of the garage for the first time since then and all I have now is static coming from the speakers. All the display on the radio looks normal and changes channels and the clock displays correct. I know on this system it has a receiver for the radio is that possibly what has gone bad within less than a week? I have the shop manual but it is not much help troubleshooting just static from all 4 speakers.

Update I did try a cassette tape and it works fine along with the graphic equalizer. Once out of about 10 times of ejecting the tape the radio tried playing for about 3 seconds and then went back to static.

Well if you think it's the tape deck(eq), then reach under the dash and unplug it from the main box to rule it out.
