Remote Start Issue

lost my key fob for my 2007 rcsb silverado, it has all options and is fully loaded(for a reg cab) when i scroll through the DIC it lists off chime volume, approach lghting, etc. The remote start option has a check mark on yes(on) and seems to be an option that my truck has, i would assume the fob isnt sinc'd with the truck, is there any remedy for this or do i have to go to the dealership? which they always hassle me becuase my truck is lifted and the interior plastics are painted. thanks

Having the truck lifted has nothing to do with a remote start. Any dealer should be able to program a key fob for you. You need a different key fob to work the remote start, it has 4 buttons on it, not sure if you have one of those or not.

i added that peice becuase they have hassled me before on warentee work citing the lift as an issue, my truck has the option and key fob to match("4 button") just wondering if there was a program method to activate it like there is for tpms and the keyless entry. thank you for your worthless comment!

By your response, I can tell you are an immature little boy, guess I have to explain my response further. What my post means is having a lifted truck will not stop a dealer from setting up, or getting you a key fob. Ordering a new key fob of any type because you lost it is not warranty work and can not be blamed on a lifted truck. You stated that you lost your key fob, that's why I said ANY DEALER CAN PROGRAM ONE FOR YOU (that's the answer)......Guess that's worthless in the mind of a child? I also said the remote start key fob is different (you never said you had that key fob to begin with, all you said is that there is an option for remote start while going through the DIC), some people don't know there are several types of key fobs.

It's a shame these little boys that come on here don't appreciate anything. Probably doesn't appreciate the new vehicle his parents bought for him either.

Note : A sentence is supposed to start with a capital letter. "I" is ALWAYS supposed to be capital.

peice = piece

becuase = because

warentee = warranty

thank you - should be Thank you

I hope you don't have a spelling test in the near future, doesn't look like you'll pass.

Thank you Captain Grammar! Your reading comprehension must be slipping in your old age, I was simply saying that I did not want to have to make a trip to the dealer unless it was necassary as they tend to hassle me over the trucks modifications. It is clear to me now that i will go to the dealer becuase its easier than dealing with air-headed ass-hats like yourself over the internet. It's sad that you must spend the later days of your life hassling young men on the internet, you can take your spelling corrections and shove them up your geriatric ass! Good day

I take it that your lost key fob didn't have remote start becuase you had to look at your dic to see if it had the option. Right? If you went out and bought a remote start key fob, yes, unfortunately you have to go to the dealer to have it programmed. I believe you can look at the RPO codes in your glove box to make sure you have the remote start equipment on your truck. If they give you a hard time about a lift or whatever tell them to kick rocks. You'll have to pay to have them program it so the rest of the picture is not their concern.

If you bought the truck used, which I am assuming because you didn't know it had remote start, then there is a good chance that the dealer swapped out the key fobs with the non remote start compatible ones. That said, IF it has remote start it is as simple as getting the proper key fob programmed for the truck. An easy way to tell is by the RPO code in the glove box. If it has the code AP3, then it has remote start. If it has code AP8, then it has the remote start prep package and remote start can be added by getting the kit p/n 17801236 which comes with two key fobs and the required code to change your factory programming to make remote start work. Costs about 128 dollars from gmpartsdirect.

It sound like you already have remote start since the DIC says it is on, just check those glove box codes.

On a side note: Please don't come to this forum as the new guy and start throwing darts. That individual was only trying to help you out.

Once they reprogram the new fob the remote start should work. Good deal
