Looking To Purchase Nav Unit...

Looking to purchase a nav unit for my 07 Sierra SLT ( with bose ). Have been looking at this unit http://www.ebay.ca/itm/GMC-Double-Din-DVD-...=item230ca8b095 . Anyone have any experience with it? Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Why not the Advent? Seems to have a lot more to offer than the one you're looking at.

Alot more $ lol ... also looking at the PIONEER AVIC-X930BT, i like the factory look better, ease of installl etc. Has anyone installed the pioneer avic? Performance?

also I would be leery of anything running Windows CE (seeing as that O/S is like 7 years old)..

Yeah looking at getting the pioneer, seen this message though under installation notes, -Some Double DIN radios may not fit due to harness interference with the dash substructure. If your Double DIN radio has wire harnesses or RCA connectors that plug into the top half of the back of the radio, your radio may not fit in the dash. Please check the back of your radio before ordering.-

 

Has anyone ever had this problem?

there should be plenty of room, if you are unsure take out the radio and measure, but I have the OEM Nav in my 2010 which in of itself is a tight fit, and I have the Lockpick Device installed with adds about 6 inches to the wiring harness on all 4 connectors plus RCA jacks and the lockpick controller box, and it all fits without issue.

 

OEM units tend to be larger and deeper than most aftermarket, the only thing it might require is you to re-route some of the wiring to the side of the unit (as there will be a gap on either side with an aftermarket unit), or use RCA connectors with a 90 degree end on them so they go down instead of straight back (that is if you are going to run front, rear and sub rca outputs to aftermarket amps and the Video links to TVs and such), but if you are tying into the factory amps and speakers then I doubt you will have an issue.

Run away, thats a cheap chinese double din. No brand name, nothing is plug and play, and the cables included show me it is not iPod licensed.

 

Win CE is very current in car audio, just depends on the version. WIN CE will continue to run in the market as Android platforms are not stable. Most others are brand specific operating systems like Sunplus that have very little connectivity.
