Western Ultramount Bumper Notching

Im planning on getting a new Sierra 1500 in the near future and plan on putting a Western snowplow on it. The Ultramounts are very nice setup but I am terrified at the fact that I may have to notch the bumper. Can I install the Ultramount bracket on a newer 1500 Sierra without notching the bumper? Ive seen a couple 2500 sierras with no bumper notching but not sure if it was an Ultramount. Pics for this would be a great help.

My western didn't require any notching, fit nice and snug. I did notch out my older Meyers mount when I had that plow on my truck, but seeing how low the notches are you can't see them unless you bend down and look for them. Western is really good at making their product fit for all makes of trucks, I dont think you will have any issues. Check with your local installer first though.

Thanks for reply. I hope even though you have an older Chevy there will be no difference for a newer Sierra.

A new Western plow set up should not require any air-d*m or

bumper notching.

I know the 2500 with a 67981-2 mounting carton does not but

the older 67981 mount does.

A 1500 takes a different mount 67960-1 so I am not sure.

Its best to call the Western dealer and ask!

I havent called a Western dealer about the bumper notching but when you use the Quickmatch on their website it says requires bumper notching. But that could just mean the simple removal of a bumper lip underneath im not to sure until I see one in person. The one dealer I may go look at a truck about has a new 2500 with a western plow, Ill take a look at and see what the dealership did.

Ive learned through the past that Western dealers dont know anything about these plows unless they are sitting right in front of them and then they might mess it up anyway lol

AHHHHHHHHH....................Now that you mention it!

IIRC the 1500s have a small "air d*m" under the bumper/radiator support area ! I checked my buds 07 gmt-900 1500 and it has one where my 2500 does not.....................

Yea.......I can see it may have to be notched !

Yup that wouldnt surprise me, I hope that air dam can just simply be removed. I plan on removing it the day I buy my truck anyway lol because I hate how it makes the truck look lower.
