2008 Silverado Going Thru Oil

I have a 2008 silverado 5.3, 70,000 kilometres (Canadian eh!). I follow the computer suggestions for oil changes but I am very worried about the amount of oil found in the drain pan.

With a new filter, I'm only getting 2 quarts out of the truck. where is the rest? It doesn't burn any or drip. Where does it go?

Do you check the level on the dipstick between changes? You should be adding between changes if you only have 2 quarts coming out when you drain your oil.

As far as I know, the missing oil has to be dripping or burning. I don't think their are any other options. You would be able to tell if it's dripping, but how do you know it's not burning oil?

It is being used to lubricate the inside of your exhaust. Some trucks take more to keep the exhaust pipe lubed. This keeps it from rusting.

Damn now that I know there are oil thieves out there I'm going to have to find a locking oil cap for my truck.... :D

Sorry man I couldn't resist.
