What will fit behind seat?

Anybody know how much room there is behind the back seat of a new model (2002) silverado?

I'm thinking of buying a bazooka powered bass tube to complete my addition of new speakers in my truck. Is this a good idea? I haven't heard one yet. I'm wondering if a 10" will fit behind the seat?

I'm not looking for a super system just a better sound. Might get a new Head Unit later.

I replaced all of the factory speakers with infinitys already. (sounds much better)

That's a question I have too. I assume you have a standard cab.....If you want to put it behind the back seat (driver or passenger side) I don't think it'll work, not even an 8. I was thinking of putting the RS8 behind the middle armrest (40/20/40 bench seats) in a vertical position. Only problem is the armrest cannot be lifted.

My Truck is an Extended Cab.

I work away from home thats why i'm asking. My truck is at home. I order stuff from the net and that way its usually there by the time I get home on the weekend :thumb:

here's my 2 cent's worth--i have 2- 8 inch bazooka tubes with builtin amps under my back seat --they are facing toward the doors and the sound is great--you can go up to a 10 inch if you need too-plenty of room to do so--just hooked up to the factory unit and it really gives me that extra thump that i was looking for--- :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I have a spare 10 inch bazooka (not powered) and it "will" fit behind the passenger seat in a regular cab, but it will keep the seat from being able to go all the way back on the track. However my fiance isn't all that tall so I may use it. I've been thinking about getting the Infinity Basslink Box that my buddy has in his. It's a powered 10 inch box basically he had mounted behind the passengers seat and it's an easy fit. Looks cool too. It fits behind the center console perfectly.

According to crutchfield it's an Infinity Basslink 14-1/2"W x 13-3/8"H x 9-7/8"D (vertical mount)

what fits behind the rear seat in a Crew Cab? bazooka tubes sound great. I would like to go 2 10's unless there is something diferent/better, thats custom fit like they have for Yukons, Denalis etc etc

This is a question I've had with my 03 Silverado -- Extended cab. My radio is the unit with the CD, no cassette. To be honest, the sound is terrible---no bass at all, no matter what adjustments I have done. The closest note to bass is a poor boomy thump that sounds as I were using a cheap boom box with the LOUDNESS engaged at all times.

To keep the radio from being irritating on its audio, I have had to use the CUSTOM setting and back the bass below the mid point.

Upon first visual impressions, one would think this should be an amazing system. Peering through the door grills, I see a separate tweeter and a separate round 6" or so speaker-something.

So, my question is this. Is the really terrible sound a fault of the factory head unit or some really crummy speakers? Enthusiasts would say to replace both the speaker system and head unit. But, if the speakers were good, and not the culprit, I'd just as soon as replace the head unit first. But, if the problem is the speakers....

Adding a powered bazooka would probably solve this mess. I don't want a chest thumper ear-splitter, just something that would put a bit of power on the low end of the audio freq.

Well, Finally got my Sub in. I put an Infinity Basslink under the passenger backseat. Didn't have to bolt it down, seat bottom hits it but doesn't pressure it at all. sounds great reversed. I also put a Pioneer 7400MP Head Unit in. Love it! :thumb:

Running the power wire for the sub was a nightmare! took me longer to do that than to do the entire remaining wiring and replacing HU! Finally went thru the firewall where the main wiring harness comes in. (Scary pushing a blade thru there! )

Basslink is just what I was wanting, thumps plenty for me! (actually more than I can stand when cranked!)

Have you guys considered the under console units that are on the market now? I know they make one for both the old C/K and the new Silverado trucks.

Essentially it's a subwoofer that fits under your center console.

JL Audio has 3 different enclosures, called their stealthbox. there is one for the console/bucket type, one that replaces the middle seat, and one that goes under the rear seat on the driver's side

the crew with buckets comes with a sub in the center console, near the dash area. Some say its a 4" some say 5.5 and some say 6", but I guess it depends on how/where you measure it.

Either way, Id like a couple bazooka or Q logic or similar boxes that are custom to fit under the rear seats in the Crew. Under the seat is plenty of room
