Drivers Side Speakers Intermittently Failing

My front and rear drivers side speakers are failing/failed. It first started by noticing that the door chime was very faint. Then i realized that one day both drives side speakers were dead.

 

Occasionally I will turn the truck on , and they will work, but either ill start driving, or turn the truck off, and next time they will not produce any sound again. HOWEVER the left side tweeter has never failed and always works. I wonder if this can help me do a diagnosis?

 

 

What should I check first? head unit or speakers? I tried to pull the door panel off and I was going to check the drivers door speaker, but I couldnt get the door panel fully removed. I popped all the plastics, removed the bolts, removed the door luck piece, and popped all the clips. Something is still holding the door panel on, kinda near the middle of the door, above the speaker. I cant get access to the speaker. What am i missing?

What radio RPO code? Factory amp or no factory amp? If I know these things I can give you some stuff to check if you have a dvom and know how to use it. It really probably is just speakers though.

 

Also on the door panel, the only thing in the area of the speaker is just push pins. Should pull straight off.

I dont believe it would have a factory amp. Its an LT and doesnt have "premium" sound. Just the regular stuff. I would assume the OEM headunit is amplified. Im gonna run out and check and see if i can find the RPO code..

 

As far as the door goes, Im trying to remember what was holding me up. Maybe it was the door handle? I think that might have been it..how do i deal with that?

 

 

 

Edit: Ok I looked but i have no idea which RPO code is for the radio. Its just the regular radio that in all of the 08 trucks that I have seen that just have the single disc and XM radio. If u tell me how i can find the RPO Ill check it.
