Ipad2 Using Factory Usb

I just bought a new sierra denali and have a question (i did some quick searching first).

Will the usb port support plugging in an ipad instead of an ipod for music etc? then i could use it for navigation and internet instead of just putting an ipod in the truck.

Ipad is not a supported device with the GM USB system (neither ipad 1 or ipad 2), and it's an Apple issue not a GM issue.

 

you can use the MP3 2.5mm jack to play music, but the USB port will not accept the ipad nor will it charge it.

I know ipad 1/2 both require 2.1mA to charge.

Does anyone sell an interface that would allow the Ipad to work with the stock system?

not that I have come across.. and with all the issues I have with my ipod touch and the OEM sound system I've given up looking, time to consider aftermarket IMO, the OEM system just sucks for any type of modding or upgrading.

I took a shot at hooking up my ipad2 to the truck the other day........ and it WORKED! It recognizes the music and recognizes it as charging, but it still charges slow. Im guessing it has to do with the new iOS 5 firmware update because it didn't recognize it before

My IPOD touch and IPhone4 work seemlessly and the sound quality is fine. I do not have the bose system
