Dumb Toolbox Question?

I was thinking about a black diamond plate toolbox, the style that sits just below the lip of the truck bed, the style thats kind of hidden unless you are looking into the bed . How do those mount/secure to the truck? Do they sit direclty on top of the painted truck bed? The reason I ask is that my truck has perfect paint all around even inside the bed and I dont want to mess it up. Thanks in advance

If you don't want to scratch your bed, then certainly you won't want to drill holes in it either. So a tool chest is out.

 

But what I've done in the past is use 4-6 self tapping screws and it was good.

My low profile toolbox uses J-hooks for attachment, no drilling required. A toolbox that you speak of would require bolting to the floor or front of the bed I believe.

If you use the type mentioned above you'll loose the bed cap rails ;)
