carson b Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 hi i have a 2004 2500hd silverado, last week my truck started to shift hard from first to second, i was told it could be my tps so i cleand that and it seemed to solve that problem for now, but now when the trans trys to lock up when cruising down the hwy it seems like its trying to do it at to low of an rpm and has a small vibrasion, or if im driving down the road it will lock up then unlock then lock up again???? could this still be my tps or speed sensor??
redvett Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Your truck has DBW and has no TPS. If the throttlebody is bad you have to replace it. I suggest you look at live data with a Tech2 scanner for starters. You should have codes present.
carson b Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 thanks for the reply, you are right about the tps, and i did have it plugged in and there are no new codes present at this time, there was one stored in the history for an incorrect gear ratio, but the problems im having have just started last week?
carson b Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 ok so iv done a some more reading about this im thinking my hard 1 2 shift is sprite from my shudder at lock up, mostly cus after cleaning my dbw the hard shift is gone but the shudder is still there and seems to be getting worse some times and better other times so has any one had any problems with torque converter shudder and can tell me what they had to do to fix the problem

chrisjr123 Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Disconnect your battery for five min this will clear your trans adapts if it improves get the comp reflashed at dealer or shop with update capability .
carson b Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 thanks for the help, i took my truck to a local tanny shop that i deal with and had them go on a test drive with me and when i had some budy who new what they were looking for in the truck he picked the problem out right away the valve body was loosing presser and cosing the tc to shudder as soon as the computer felt this it upend the line presser to compensate for the loss of presser but this cased my shift points to be out of wack and thats where my hard 1 2 shift came from..... he told me that with a new valve body the problem would go away but the tc may have been damaged cus i was driving it for so long after i felt the problem and because i tow lots of trailers with the truck i said just put a new converter in there just to be safe,
