2010 Sierra Back Of Drivers Seat Rocks

Recommended Posts

The back of my drivers seat (the upright) rocks back and forth, about a 1/2 inch, when I get in or move around a bit. Went to the dealer and he claims that all the seats do this. Checked my friend's 2010 Silverado and his doesn't move. Went to the showroom and checked a Crew Cab and it didn't move.

Anyone else have this problem???

Thanks,

Jerry

Unless you weigh 600 lbs, the seat back should not rock back and forth. I have seen this on a brand new Corvette in a dealer's showroom. It was really bad. I would say a factory defect.

My thoughts exactly! I'm not even 190 and if I lean forward a little I can feel the movement when I sit back. They are getting just like Harley dealers, "Oh that's normal." I'm gonna call tomorrow and tell them it's worse (which it does fell like it), along with a couple of other problems.

My 2011 GMC sierra Denali seat back moves 1 time when I get in and does not move again untill i get in again.

my 2009 Denali did not do this and my 2007 chevy nbs 1500 crew did not do it.

The seat moves once, then locks itself in?

Mine moves if I lean forward then sit back or if I brake hard and the momentum moves me forward a little and then back.

Seat backs/bottoms shouldn't move. My 2000 Silverado had movement in the seat back. One dealer (later found out they were very anti-warranty) said it was fine, the next I took it to said it was unacceptable, and swapped out the seat back actuators. It was perfect after that.

I consider this a possible safety issue and is not normal

+1. I doubt it would fail under normal driving, but in an accident, that extra flop could be enough to allow the acutator to strip, folding the seat up.

My BMW had the seat base rock a bit under hard braking/acceleration. I'm sure it would have been fine, but was very un-nerving. They replaced that under warranty, no questions asked.
