I have a 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 1500 with nav, BU cam, and 6 speaker Bose. I am installing an Alpine 1000 with the JL stealthbox 10"s. I need to know what is the best going output converter to feed the amp, Where to tap into factory rear speakers with it, Where it mounts, where to route the wires from the converter or harness to best amp location. Do I need a processor or do I need a very simple converter? I looked at the LC2i but this is big and dont know if something like this is necessary. I have a lot of money in the system so far and I dont want to skimp now. Allthough I want to keep things as simple as possible and factory looking as possible. I dont want to have bulky modules mounted all over. I will use my factory Bose for highs/mids with no amp. i will turn the bass down on them and adjust my amp gains for balance. I am not a big boomer but like a good quality sound. Any help will be appreciated.

hmmmm.... i have seen alot of the converters, but never one that truly delivered a clear quality sound. those jl's would have a nice tone, but i don't know of a box that would bring them to their full potential. if you arent turning them up too high, they should still sound pretty good. when i hooked up the box in my truck, i tapped into the rear speaker wires where they run over the rocker panel, behind the seatbelt box. you can find a wiring diagram to look and see what is + and - but the speaker wires are wound together as a pair. i tapped into them with some scotch connectors, i had to cut about 4" of the tape and spread them apart. i then ran wires back and put the box under the back seat as far back as i could, you could not tell it was there. let us know how it sounds, and make sure to include a pic!!!

I just installed a high voltage converter for a sub in my Sierra. I tapped the factory subwoofer output directly under the console bin. The factory sub is a dual voice coil so you can use both sets of wires going into it as your left and right. There is catch though. The factory sub is obviously crossed over at a preset frequency and has an active volume limiter. using the JL's i would not recommend using the the rear speakers as a source because they have a high pass filter also preset. If you are willing to pay for the JL's i would replace the nav with one that has a sub out. This will improve SPL by about 35% over the factory and theres a huge difference in quality at higher volume. They high voltage converter is definitely a good temporary solution until you can muster up the $1000 dollars for a replacement head unit.
