2008 Silverado Tx Edition | Battery, Check Engine Light, Ac Issues Hel

Good morning,

I am having some problems with my truck this morning and I was hoping for some advice. When walking out to the vehicle and attempting to start it, it would not turn over. I threw a voltmeter on it and it read 12.5. I jump started it and limped it over to work, from the looks of it, I believe the battery is shot. About two weeks ago, I started getting a check engine light and the message “tighten gas cap was displayed”, over a few cycles it finally went away. It came back a few days ago and has not went away sense. In addition, upon jump starting car this morning, my AC on the passenger side was working but the AC on the driver side was blowing hot. Can anyone offer any advice or pointers on this? Could this all be battery related?

The tighten gas cap is an indication of a purge valve problem. My 08 has gone in numerous time for the same thing. They have replaced the purge solenoid valve twice, a gas tank, and three caps. And yes, you need a battery. Mine went out this summer and I was surprised it lasted that long.

Replace battery. The actuators for your A/C should run a self test and reset. Hopefully the gears are not broken on the actuator.

Let us know how it turns out.
