Truck Is Broke Down!

I went to work this morning and after work went out to go home and my truck will not turn over. Lights dim when you turn the ignition so I had a co worker take me to buy a new battery. New battery did nothing. I did not try it in neutral but will in the A.M. I am an aircraft mechanic, not an auto mechanic. I have no idea where to look next. Any help would be appreciated.

If the lights get real dim when you try to crank, I suspect the starter is locked up. Drawing lots of amps because it's not turning. Check battery voltage while cranking - if it goes far under 11V with a fresh battery, then you more than likely need a new starter. I'd also try turning the engine over with a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt just to rule that out. Don't know of too many engines locking up while parked though ... but never hurts to check.

My 03 SS Did the same thing except my lights didnt go dim. Turned out the starter had a dead spot.
