Usb Radio Reprogram/rpo Code?

Recommended Posts

I purchased an OEM single disc USB HU (non Bose) to replace my non- USB HU (non Bose).

After I installed it the "new" radio has a much lower volume (on every source)

The seller says I have to reprogram the radio for my system.....

My buddy at the dealer seems to think I need the USB radio RPO code, seller says I dont.

Anyone know what the RPO for the USB single disc radio is (if I do need it?)

Anyone familiar with this issue, can steer me right.

Going Wednesday to the dealer to visit my buddy and attempt to fix this (he has never had to deal with this issue).

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to GM-trucks!! Just do a search on USB radio and you should find a bunch of information for this. I swapped my 2008 non USB with a 2010 USB radio without any issues or programming. I got mine factory direct through the dealer though. You don't have a bose system do you? Or make sure the one you bought was from a non-bose system. I know someone else on this forum had a similar issue to what your experiencing and I thought it might have had something to do with swapping from Bose to non Bose. Either way keep us posted!!!

I replaced my factory AM/FM with a USB CD Player in my old 2010, and the USB input would play so loud I couldn't stand it. But, my AM/FM portion could be cranked all the way up and I'd still double the volume to get it to my liking. Point I'm making is it seems that something in the programming may allow for only one input to play at full volume, so make sure whatever you end up with works on ALL inputs. For reference, my new 2011 that came factory with it plays just as loud as my old one did on just the USB input on all inputs, so I know it isn't just the way they work.

The volume level was the same for everything, even the bluetooth and voice commands.

Likely the volume on your device was too high.

With my ipod in the aux jack (not usb) it is the same volume as the radio/cd/XM

I'm hoping Wednesday to have all the answers!

But I will check all sources.

Thanks!

There is no volume setting on the iPod when connected to the USB port. I didn't have Bluetooth or OnStar in the truck, so can't speak to them. Just an idea for you to verify so that you don't find it later. Good luck!

It's fixed! :jester:

Simple reprogram.

Buddies at Chevy hooked me up.

I did notice a technical bulletin for "harsh chime" which they also did.

If you do this switch and your still under warranty you might try complaining of a "harsh chime"

This is an dated programming and it would also fix your radio volume because they have to reprogram the HU.

Would save you the labor may be?....

As far as the USB I purchaced a computer cable from usbfirewire dot com (RR-2MB-AFPM-24G)

And mounted it in the glove box.

Love being able to work the ipod from the wheel and it always being charged!
