How do I erase "change oil soon" light?

Hey all,

I know, I ought to just look in the manual, but I'm inside at the computer right now (and the truck's outside, of course), so I thought I'd just ask the all-knowing folks here.

Just had the oil changed on my '02 Tahoe, and I've got the message center telling me to change the oil (after it's already been done).  How do I go about getting rid of that message everytime I start the truck?

Thanks, folks!

yup....That answer should be in your owners manual.  In the GMC Sierra, you put the key to run (engine not running), and depress the gas pedal fully three times within five seconds.  The light should blink for about five seconds....This means it is reset.  Now, I am not sure if the Tahoe is this same.

He's right when it comes to the trucks but I'm sure its the same for the Tahoes.

However I had my dealership do the same thing, why oh why do I have to reset the #### thing myself?  I would figure they would have noticed that change oil blinking at them when they were nice enough to drive my truck up to the service area from the back lot when I went to pick it up the last couple of times I took it in.  Oh well it's easy enough to do...  hehehe

Now if they can't remember to reset the oil change light what else are they forgeting?  hmmmm

lol  My old girlfriend had her oil changed in her honda once and a couple weeks later had it seize.  She figured since they had just changed the oil something must have been wrong with the oil light on her dash and didn't say anything.  Needless to say someone screwed up at the shop and we had to trade it in for what we could get, they were fairly understanding and we got an ok deal for it since it was our fault as well as theirs.

Since that incident I always check my oil level after a change.  At least they got that right!  ;)

Thanks for the replies, folks!

Yep, it's the same for the Tahoe as the others -- 'cept it seemed to take a few tries before it (or *I*) got it right.

Thanks again!
