Hypertech Max Energy

I recently purchased a Hypertech Max energy tuner for my 2011 sierra. Please anyone expecting anything from this tuner beware! I installed the regular tune, and noticed that on acceleration it was pinging. so i filled up with 89 octane. this didnt help out the pinging at all.

as for the shift points, they are barely noticable

shift firmness, that worked decent in my truck

fuel mileage, seemed to pick up a mpg if i didnt step on it because the pinging was driving me insane. it wasn really loud. if the radio was on you coudlnt hear it, but you knew it was there.

SO! moral of the story, if you think you are going to save 170(VS BB) and buy some POS cookie cutter tuner that IMO would have destroyed my truck, THINK AGAIN. Im lucky that summitracing.com is taking my tuner back after i used it. it could have been a $380 mistake, add on the fact that i am in contact with BB and am going to spend more on the autocal

can anyone tell me what needs to happen with the autocal? do they ship me something that monitors my trucks computer? then i drive like normal and they make a tune to see what can be fine tuned? so then i ship something back and they mail me a tune? the long process is why i went with a cookie cutter tune

Travis you should have called our tech dept and we could have done a tech sheet and got that corrected if it was pinging. This is very unprofessional to post something degrading our company when we dedicate our time to tuning for horsepower and fuel economy for our fellow customers. Many of the forum customers on here use our products in there vehicles with very good success, hope you get your money back and sorry it didnt work out for you.

AGREED! I hate when people buy a brand new product, test it, then bash it without contacting the manufacturer first. Companies always need to know feedback, otherwise how can they fix/improve on it?!

I installed a Hypertech on a 2009 6.2 and the results were quite good. The programmer raised the shift points by 500 rpm, the Rev limiter by almost a 1000, and added noticable HP. More important, my 0 to 60 times (using a G-tech) dropped almost 1/2 second. However, the program did not change the Shift Firmness or the fan temp. I talked to Hypertech and they said these options were not available for the this motor/trans combo. Regardless, the results were quite good.

I purchased a Hypertech Max energy and I noticed a bump in power and a bump in MPG with the standard tune. I also have ZERO pinging. 2007.5 4.8L

I would recommended this programer to anyone. I am very happy with it.

Jason.
