Well...I just sold my 2008 gmc 15004x4 crew. I am in the hunt now for a 2500....

A distant dealer found a 2008 GMC 2500 and a 2008 Chevy 2500 . Both with similar equipment. Does anyone have a preference? As far as I know they are the same? LTZ vs SLT. Also do you know of any gotchas? Any issues or common solves?

I know....I used to have a 2004 gmc 2500 hd diesel. I sold it after fuel prices went to 5 dollars and I had a terrible motorcycle accident. It was my dream truck.

One thing to watch for on gas trucks is what gear ratios it has. They come standard with 3.73 gears, but have optional 4.10 gears. If you tow alot of weight, you get a higher max trailer weight with the 4.10 than with the 3.73. I believe it is a 2500lbs difference across the board between the gear ratios. A lot of them are 3.73 equipped, but the 6 speed auto has a very tall 1st gear so equipping a 6.0 with them is no biggie, unless you pull 10,000+. With a Duramax, there is no need to worry as they only have 3.73 gears.
