One Tough Silverado

........but the underside is pretty tough. Did this during deer hunting this weekend while trying to get in front of a deer. I was on a very minimal maintaince road, had to go to one side of if to avoid an obstacle, found myself coming to a very quick stop while driving 10-15 mph. There was a hidden boulder in a divit that i could not see because the grass covered it. The truck became high centered and took some work to get it unstuck using jacks, rocks, and wheel ramps. Seemed to be running fine so i drove it home today, rougly 150 miles. The trannsmission slipped just a few times, thinking it is because it has to much oil in it now since the pan is dented. I will take it in tomorrow to see if they can get it fixed right away.

I wouldn't drive it too far with that pan like that, not until you get it off and check for internal damage.

Agreed, didn't have a choice but to drive it home, but i will be taking it in tomorrow. But like i mentioned, it seems to be ok(for the most part)

Probably snapped the neck off the transmission filter..... Or covered up the suction hole partially.... Busted the valve body, but my money on it broke the filter neck. ALL OF THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP..... on the tranny and that cross member.

If it were mine, I wouldn't drive it another mile without pulling that pan off.

My guess would be that the neck of the trans filter jammed into the seal and split it (at the very least). The filter is probably mangled and sucking air and you are getting little to no fluid flow.

If you can't do it yourself, getting the truck towed would be cheaper than risking burning up the trans. I doubt very much that you are getting much trans fluid circulation.

Transmission temp has not been over 120 since it happened, i have had it up on the display since i did it. I know that doesn't mean it's ok, but i would think it would be a good thing that it is running normal temps.

After 150 miles....if it hasn't burned up yet....I wouldn't worry about taking it in tomorrow.

Any damage, if any, is done by now. I would get it checked out tomorrow though.

Exactly my thoughts, it happened saturday around noon. Had to drive it back to the farm, watched the temp gauge carefully, nothing changed. Drove it later that day a little longer , still no change, drove it Early today while hunting, still no change. Decided to drive it home, had a couple jerks. I will be taking it to the dealer in the morning.
