1996 silverado fuel pump removal

SOmeone told me that it is easier to remove the front bolts to the bed and jack up the bed to remove the fuel pump. Is this true?

I've seen the bed lifted and the tank dropped out the bottom. If you don't have a hoist to do it on, I'd guess that lifting the bed is much easier than dropping the tank.

I dont have a hoist. Can I just use a jack and hackstands for the bed?

Manpower and wooden blocks should do it.
