Tire/Rim upgrade advice

I recently inherited a 2007 Silverado classic LS 1500 2wd and I'm looking into new tires and rims. My hope is to "fill it up" a little bit for roughly $1300-1600. That might be wishful thinking but thats all I have to work with. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ebay is your friend. Your looking for a wheel that between 8"-9" wide, with 4.5" to 5" of backspacing for a near factory look. Tire size you can fit 265's as it sits now, but up to 285's with a little crank on your torsion bars. You can achieve about 2" of lift out of the front to accommodate the larger tires.

 

Spend some time on Ebay looking at various wheel choices and we can help you narrow it down from there.

Since you have a 2 wheel drive, you don't have the option of cranking your torsion bars. You'll have to get a coil spacer if you want to fit a larger tire (like a 285). I've never owned a 2wd truck, but I think 245's are stock, so you could probably fit a 265 tire without any modicications as long as you stayed with a rim that has a positive offset.

Yeah, wasn't too thrilled with the 2wd but it was a definite upgrade from the Blaze so I can't complain. Just went to Schwabs and "the guy" said I could fit 275's without a prob and possibly 285's. So if I'm understanding you guys right a leveling kit isn't an option for my truck?? I'm going to go with the advice I get here. Once again, thanks for the help.

I know of a 05 2wd on a 3" body lift and it barely cleared 285 BFG plus is was never leveled out with only a body lift.

 

Your best bet is buying a good 3-4" spindle lift kit. Coil spacers ride like crap IMO.

First find out if you have struts or torsion bars. I've seen 2wd trucks with torsion bars.

 

Either way, you do have options
