Driver side power seat not functioning nor either seat heater

Hello,

I have tried the search function to look for previous post, but I am unable to find a answer.

 

I have a 2003 Suburban LT with 8.1L (Great car, by the way!)

 

Today, all of the driver side seat controls stopped functioning. Passenger seat is fully operational. Pressing the memory seat recall switch on the door only get the audible sound but not seat movement. Of course, the first place I check was the fuse panels to see if any blown fuses-NONE. Next I took out the seat switches and checked to see if there was power getting to the switches-There IS power. I haven't tested the motors yet because it would seem odd to me that all the motors would malfunction at the same time.

 

Something to note; the switch on the seat cushion had been running in reverse operation as to the switch being pushed (I remember seeing in another post that this was caused by a malfunction in the seat programming and need the dealer to reset. I have been unsuccessful in finding that post now).

 

In addition, the seat heaters on both the drives and passenger sides also stop functioning. Once again I checked the seat heater fuse and it is not blown. All other functions on the door (mirrors, windows, pedal adjustment) except the seat memory recall function correctly.

 

Any help in tracking down the culprit to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I got my problem all sorted out. In case anyone ever runs into this, it seems to be a common problem I have found out from my research. Underneath the drivers side seat, accessed from the rear of the seat on the left side there is a harness plug. There are about 10 wires in this plug with a large orange one (+ feed) and a large black one (- ground). When I separated the plug I found that the 2 connectors had completely burned off inside (without blowing any fuses??) Instead of replacing the entire plug I cut out the positive and ground feeds and re-attached them with a new harness plug. All fixed!

I am going to try this! Mine keeps cutting in and out (like a loose connection) I unplugged and re-plugged the harnesses, still doing it. I'll take a closer look at the power wires.
