Its a 1999 Chevy Tahoe and it went in for service cause it wouldn't start unless you played with the gear selector then start the truck in neutral.

Got it back from the shop and they replaced the ignition switch, worked great for one day now it won't start unless you hit the steering wheel than it fires up. I phoned the shop and the first thing the mechanic asked is if I had tried hitting the steering wheel.

Does the ignition switch have adjustment to it?

Thats why it needs to be hit first before it starts?

As far as I know, there's no adjustment for the ignition switch. I would be looking at the shifter cable adjustment; done at the trans, if I remember correctly. Other thing I'd look at is the adjustment of the park/neutral (gearshift selector position switch), which is also on the trans. The only time I've heard of ignition switches going out is in Corvettes, and it's usually a dirty contact issue or a cylinder wear issue. The latter is generally caused when folks have heavy loads on their keyrings, which bounce around with the vehicle while driving, and wear the cylinder assembly.
