Leather Seats

New to the board. Looking to trade in my 2003 Silverado Z71 in on a 2012 Silverado LT or Sierra SLE, 6.2L Crew Cab. Going back and forth on the All-terrain/Z71 and Max Trailering Package. Looking at the LT or SLE because I want the bench seat rather than the buckets. I have the buckets in my current truck, but think I would like the bench seat better. I have cloth now, and like it, but thinking leather might be nice to have. But, then it might get me to want heated seats, making me step up to the LTZ or SLT package....then back to buckets. It's too damn hard to make a decision!

Dealer I am working only has 1 6.2L on their lot, black which I don't want. A dealer trade hasn't worked out since not a lot of other dealers like to trade with these guys, so I'm looking at building a truck.

Going through the build your own tools on the Chevy and GMC sites, when you select leather on the Chevy site it states "Leather-appointed Seat Trim" and on the GMC site it states "Leather Appointed Front Seats".

Are the fronts seats leather only, and the rears vinyl? I tried to do a search on here, and figured that would have come up if true. I have seen people comment on the leather quality, but nothing about the rear seats being vinyl.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks. I was at a lot yesterday looking at them, and that was one thing I didn't check.

I wouldn't hesitate to order the NHT to get the 3.73's. MPG is only 1mpg different than the 3.42's but the 3.73's pull alot harder. :dunno:

I personally think the leather feels more like vinyl. If you want good leather, get Caddy seats!!

If the fronts leather, the rear will be leather too.

Welcome to the site.

actually, that's incorrect. Look a little closer. The front seating surface only is leather, the head rest and sides of the front seats are vinyl and the entire back seat is vinyl.

What, go with a Denali package? Not wanting to go that high. I can't imagine it's easy to find Caddy seats for sale. Why would they be for sale?

Thanks. If I got the Z71/All Terrain package, I would probably go Chevy, as I like those wheels better. Not a big fan of the chrome wheels that come with the Sierra packages. Sucks they don't give you any wheel options with the Max Trailering package.

And that may be the case. I never looked at them real close. But what I was implying was the front will match the rear.

Just meant the leather is not that great IMHO. They are easy to keep clean, though. They do get hot and cold with the seasons.

I do miss a bench seat sometimes :smoker:

correct, you will not have cloth in the rear, if you have leather front seats.

you have to pay attention on those too! My dad recently bought a Cadillac SRX. Certain packages came with "Leatherette" seats, which is fancy vinyl. This is all of the seats too.

Is this based on a stock 3.73 vs stock 3.42 comparison? Or is this after your tune?

I already have a HIGHLY modified G8GT, and do not plan on modifying my truck. But, that is what I said when I bought the G8......must resist the temptation to awaken the 6.2L!

to get the bench seat, i believe you have to order cloth.

no big deal, you can always add leather and heated seats after you take delivery... thats what i did. i got Katzkin leather put in by a local shop that installs them in dealer inventory vehicles. they added an extra layer of foam to make the leather tighter and the cushions softer. IMO, the leather is fancier than my wife's caddy's leather. they feel like i'm sitting in a lay-z-boy recliner!

view my gallery, i have a pic of it in their.

Thanks, I'll look into that. You can get the bench seats in leather. Leaning towards cloth. It's been fine for 9 years in my current truck. Heated seats would be nice though.

I'll check out your pics...thanks
