hrspwr Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Couple weeks ago my truck was acting up and threw the code p0357. I checked the connections on the harness and at the coil, they seem fine. I then changed out the plug wire with one that I had from when I did plugs and wires(old wire), and the code was gone. As a test I put the original wire back and it threw the code right away. I then put another wire from another cylinder and it threw the code as well. Once I placed the old wire back it was fine. Now the same thing is happening. My question is what causes this code? Tonight I am going to swap coils with one on a different cylinder to see if the issue follows. If it does then I would assume it is the coil. But if not......What/where do I start looking? Thanks
hrspwr Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 To keep this going, I did a bit of testing. I swapped the coil, plug and wire from #7 to #3 and the issue followed. Then I moved just the coil back. The code has not returned as of yet, but will see what it throws if it does. This will eliminate the coil as being the issue, and the wires(as I replaced them with another set that I had, and the issue persisted).
